Pedalling the A632 to Matlock
10 miles today from Chesterfield to Matlock. Not the easiest of rides as it includes several steep gradients including the awe inspiring Slack Hill. Didn’t make it to the
top in one go unfortunately but have set a target for next time on the ascent. Pedalling always give the opportunity for reflection and pedalling uphill is no different – reflections on the need to shed a few pounds and travel lighter on this occasion. Corpulence notwithstanding made it to Matlock in good time (for me). Things I have learnt today. Wine – Bordeux this week – dehydrates more than cider. Fat white lines mess with your balance when riding with thin tyres. People enjoy riding too fast and too close to cyclists.
